Lonely in a Crowded School

“School is where you connect with people!”

“You’re going to make lifelong friends there!”

When? At this school? I think you’re mistaken…

Heads down, sucked into screens for as far as the eye can see

Sitting around countless faces on the trolley waiting for one to smile at

Teachers use screens to teach, to connect, to read our papers

These screens have taken away our voices… the love for reading, for writing

Most importantly… the connection we used to have more of

In class, in the hallway, with our teachers, with our classmates.

Will it ever reverse?

I feel lonely in a crowded school.
