Purrfect Moment

For eight minutes of a ten-minute sit, my mind wanders.

In the last two minutes, Mushy (my big cat) waddles, squeezes, nudges her way onto my lap.

I usually don’t give her the time of day. Even now, I consider pushing her off.

But I don’t.

I let her in today.

I’m glad.

Her deep belly purrs bring me back to the present.

Her cold nose nudges me back to my senses.

Her grainy tongue… well, I could do without that feeling!

Legends say that Francis of Assisi

Preached to the animals.

Today, this cat shows me it was likely the other way around:

God’s creatures preach to us.

We need only let them in.
