Outro: Singer and Song
By Niall Twohig
I once heard echoes of a song. I knew its tune so intimately. I tried humming it for friends and family, who had no idea. It wasn’t wordless, this song. I could hear little phrases echoing, small snatches buzzing, little ear worms burrowed. I tried searching the web, but to no avail. Every lyric went nowhere. Every song a dead end. Now, here it is! I found that song. What I’d heard as an echo was coming from the deep source written in bone and bark. And I was the singer, and I was the song, I tried to remember all those years in the dark. And I was the green. I was the green. That green song in the dark.
